Vikram Samvat - विक्रम संवत - Why does the date of Diwali change every year ?

My Dear Young Indians, I have a question….. Christmas is celebrated on 25th of December every year. But the date on which festival like Diwali and Holi is celebrated keeps changing every year. Why? Day What is 1 Day? Time taken by the earth to rotate on its axis is called a one day. Year There are two ways of calculating a Year. One is called a Solar Year The other one is called a Lunar Year. Solar Year Time taken by the earth to revolve around the sun once is called one Solar Year. This time is 365 days. One Solar Year divided by 12 is one Solar Month. January to December year that we normally follow is a Solar Year. This calendar is called "Gregorian Calendar". This is named after Pope Gregory.  The predecessor of Gregorian Calendar was 'Julian Calendar' that was made by Julius Caesar of Rome. This calendar had some errors that were later corrected by Pope Gregory and the corrected calendar came to be known as Gregorian Calendar. Christmas is celebrated as per
