Order of precedence of the Republic of India- Why is the President the first citizen of India ?

My Dear Young and Little Indian Children, What does it mean when we say- The President is the First Citizen of India or the Vice President is the Second Citizen of India ? These terms have been coined to denote the Order of precedence of the Republic of India. What does Order of precedence of the Republic of India mean? A list of senior Govt functionaries/ Officers/ Public Representatives is prepared by The Ministry of Home, Govt of India which is known as protocol list. This list is as per the hierarchy of important positions. Suppose you have cooked something special at home. I believe you will first offer this dish to your Grandfather, then to your Grandmother, then your Father, then your Mother, then your elder brother/ sister. This is the Order of precedence of your Home. Similarly, The Ministry of Home has prepared an Order of precedence of the Republic of India. Why is the Order of precedence of the Republic of India made? This is made to decide who is senior to who

My Dear Young Indians, Assume that a family consumes 1,000 lites of water every day (To bathe, wash clothes, drinking etc) But the overhead water tank (on rooftop) or underground water tank that the family maintains at their home would be much bigger. Capacity of water tanks would be 5,000 or 10,000 litres. Water that we store at our home is more than our daily requirement. Why do we do this ? Because in case we face water shortage, we will be able to meet our water requirements with the stored water. A similar logic applies to Crude Oil/ Petroleum also. Countries that do not have sufficient reserves of crude oil of their own have to depend on imports. And imports may get affected during times of war or any other political crises.  Please recall our last discussion on what led to Nationalisation of Oil companies. Foreign oil companies had tried to create problems for us during the 1971 war.  Nationalisation of Oil Companies in India   To safeguard their economy and national security

My Dear Young Indians, Indian does not have sufficient reserves of crude oil hence we have to import around 80% of our requirements. After independence we had foreign-private companies importing and selling petroleum products in India- Petrol, Diesel, Kerosene, Lubricants etc. These companies were Esso Standard, Lube India Ltd, Caltex, Burmah Shell and some smaller companies. In 1959, the Govt of India created its own company to import crude oil or petroleum- The Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL). In the 1970s two more Oil Companies were incorporated- Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL)   What was the need to create new Govt companies in the same sector ? This is what happened…… In 1971 India went to war with Pakistan which came to an end on 16 December 1971 when Pakistan accepted its defeat and surrendered to India. A new country Bangladesh was created. Before and during the war, India had asked oil companie
