Major Dhyan Chand - National Sports Day of India

Today is the 116th Birthday of Major Dhyan Chand- हॉकी के जादूगर

आज भारत का राष्ट्रीय खेल दिवस है

आज हॉकी के जादूगर - मेजर ध्यान चंद - का ११६ वा जन्म दिन है

Every year 29 Aug is observed as the National Sports Day to mark the Birth Anniversary of Maj Dhyan Chand.

Maj Dhyan Chand was born on 29 Aug 1905 in Prayagraaj (earlier known as Allahabad).

His original name was Dhyan Singh.

He and his brother Roop Singh played hockey for the British Indian Army. He joined the British Indian Army in 1922.

Dhyan Singh got the name ‘Chand’ after his fellow players noticed him practicing during the night under ‘moonlight’ (चाँद) after his duty hours......Just imagine his passion and dedication.....हम जो करना चाहतें हैं उस के लिए समय और रास्ता ढूँढ ही लेते हैं. We just need to have the will and passion to do something!

India won Gold Medals for Hockey at three consecutive Olympic Games--1928, 1932 and 1936. This was the time when India was the best in Hockey!

The Final Hockey match of 1936 Olympics was played between Germany and India.  India won the match 8-1. Maj Dhyan Chand was the captain of the Indian team.

Do you know this match was played on 15th of August 1936 ? .....Who could have imagined that exactly after 11 years India would be a free Nation !!!

As per some news reports, German dictator Adolf Hitler had offered a senior position in the German army to Maj Dhyan Chand………. But Maj Dhyan Chand refused. (There is no way to verify the genuineness of this news)

In 1956 he retired from the Indian Army. In the same year he was honoured with the Padma Bhushan पद्म भूषण, the third highest civilian honour of India.

Major Dhyan Chand passed away on 3 Dec 1979 at the age of 74 years.

Major Dhyan Chand is remembered as the Wizard of Hockey हॉकी  के जादूगर because of his mastery over the hockey stick and control over the ball.

The highest sports award has been named in the memory of this Indian Sports Legend- Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna मेजर ध्यान चंद खेल रत्न

पंडित राम प्रसाद बिस्मिल Pandit Ram Prasad Bismil– The Man with a Pen & Pistol

My Dear Young and Little Indians,  Today is the 124th birthday of Shaheed Pandit Ram Prasad Bismil पंडित राम प्रसाद बिस्मिल , the revolutionary who fought and died for the freedom that WE enjoy.     1897- He was born on 11 June 1897 in Shahjahanpur city which is in present day Uttar Pradesh. He was a follower of Arya Samaj आर्य समाज He was good at writing Hindi and Urdu poetry. 1915- Bhai Parmanand भाई परमानन्द , a member of Arya Samaj आर्य समाज and a leader of Hindu Mahasabha हिन्दू महासभा , was sentenced to death by the British. This angered Ram Prasad Bismil Ji. He wrote patriotic poems to express himself. Order of precedence of the Republic of India- Why is the President the first citizen of India ?

These terms have been coined to denote the Order of precedence of the Republic of India. What does Order of precedence of the Republic of India mean?
