Shri Krishna Janmashtmi श्री कृष्ण जन्माष्टमी

My Dear Young and Little Indians,

Today is श्री कृष्ण जन्माष्टमी

Tell me - at which place was श्री कृष्ण born ? Who were Nand नन्द and Yashoda यशोदा ? And what is Vrindavan वृन्दावन ?

Shri Krishna was born to Devaki देवकी, but Shri Krishna's father Vasudeva वासुदेव gave the newborn Krishna to  Nanda Baba and Yashoda in Gokul गोकुल, in order to raise and protect Krishna from Devaki's brother Kansa कंस, the King of Mathura.

Mathura मथुरा and Gokul गोकुल are separated by the river Yamuna यमुना. Father Vasudeva carried his son Krishna across the Yamuna to Gokul.

Shri Krishna lived in Gokul when he was a child. Later he moved to Vrindavan वृन्दावन

You would have read and heard about Krishna-Radha (Gopi) कृष्ण - राधा...... all this happened in Vrindavan.

Another city that is associated with Shri Krishna is Dwarka . द्वारका

Jarasandha जरासंध , the King of Magadh मगध (Bihar of today) was the father-in-law of King Kansa कंस, the King of Mathura

When Shri Krishna killed Kansa, Jarasandha was infuriated because his two daughters (two wives of Kansa) were widowed.

Jarasandha attacked Mathura eighteen times to avenge the death of his son-in-law.

Shri Krishna decided to move to a new place so that Mathura remained safe.

He established a new city called Dwarka द्वारका on the west coast of India (in modern day Gujarat).

After the battle of Mahabharata where all Kaurav कौरव brothers were killed, Gandhari गांधारी mother of Kaurav brothers cursed Shri Krishna because she believed that injustice had been done to her sons.

As a consequence of her curse, after thirty six years (36 Years) of Mahabharata, Dwarka was destroyed and submerged in the seas.

Shri Krishna and Dwarka

My Dear Young and Little Indians,

This is neither fiction nor mythology. This is our HISTORY.

यह हमारा इतिहास है
श्री कृष्ण , श्री राम हमारे पूर्वज है

Dwarka

Jai Hind!

Gaurav Negi
