Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee , Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay and Bhartiya Jan Sangh (BJS)

Dear Young Indians,

What is Bhartiya Jan Sangh भारतीय जन संघ  ?

Who were Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee डा श्यामा प्रसाद मुख़र्जी and Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay पंडित दीन दयाल उपाध्याय ?

Bhartiya Jan Sangh (BJS) is the predecessor or the older version of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP).

Lets go back into history into the pre-independence times....

Maharaja Hari Singh was the ruler/ King of the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir.

'Sheikh Abdullah' was a local leader of J&K. He formed a political party in 1932 by the name 'Kashmir Muslim Conference'. He later renamed it as 'National Conference'

In 1946 he started a movement by the name "Quit Kashmir" against Maharaja Hari Singh. The objective was to remove Mahara Hari Singh.

Majority population of J&K was Muslim and Maharaja Hari Singh was a Hindu....hence 'Kashmir Muslim Conference' of Sheikh Abdullah wanted to remove the Hindu ruler

Maharaja Hari Singh jailed Sheikh Abdullah.

Shortly after this, India attained freedom on 15 Aug 1947

On 26 October 1947, Maharaja Hari Singh signed the instrument of accession and merged J&K with India.

Now something very strange and awkward happened in J&K......Sheikh Abdullah, the jailed rebel leader, was appointed the Head of the Govt in J&K.

This would have definitely happened with the concurrence and support of Mahatma Gandhi and Nehru because they were the leaders then

Then Article 370 was inserted into the Constitution of India and J&K was given a special status AND the Head of J&K was allowed to use the title of PRIME MINISTER

Sheikh Abdullah became the PRIME MINISTER of J&K, J&K had a constitution of its own, J&K had a Flag of its own. J&K practically became a country within India.

Immediately after Independence The Indian national Congress (Congress Party) was the dominant political party. One of the members of Nehru's cabinet was Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. He was the Minister for Industry in Nehru's cabinet of ministers

Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee

This special status of Jammu and Kashmir was not acceptable to Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee.

In 1950 India and Pakistan signed a pact called Liaquat–Nehru Pact. Nehru was the PM of India and Liaquat Ali Khan was the PM of Pakistan.

Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee did not approve of this pact and finally he decided to quit Nehru's Govt.

On 21 October 1951, with the help of Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS), Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee formed a new political party by the name Bhartiya Jan Sangh.

एक देश में दो विधान,दो प्रधान व दो निशान नहीं चलेगा.....this was the view of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee

दो विधान means two constitutions- one for J&K and another for rest of India

दो प्रधान means two Prime Ministers- one for J&K and another for rest of India

दो निशान means two flags- one flag for J&K and another for rest of India

Sheikh Abdullah became ruler of J&K within India.... India would support J&K with money and defense. J&K under Sheikh Abdullah would enjoy Indian money and NOT follow the Indian constitution.

Let me tell you here that Sheikh Abdullah is the father of Farooq Abdullah and grandfather of Omar Abdullah. Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah have been Chief Ministers of J&K (under Article 370). They have also enjoyed Indian money with no accountability

During times of Sheikh Abdullah, Indians had to seek permission from Govt of J&K if they wanted to enter the state of J&K.

Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee decided to enter J&K without seeking any permission. His stand was that if J&K is a part of India then why should Indians seek special permission to visit J&K. They can visit J&K like they visit any other state of India

In 1953 he went to J&K. He was arrested and jailed.

He was arrested on 11 May 1953

On 23 June 1953, the Govt of Sheikh Abdullah informed that Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee  had died. Reason of death was stated as 'Heart Attack".

Family and many citizens suspected this to be a murder. No one knew what had happenned to him between 11 May and 23 June 1953.

People wanted an inquiry to be done behind reasons of his death. His Mother requested Nehru to set up an inquiry. but Nehru IGNORED this request and NEVER ordered an investigation.

Was Nehru hand-in-glove with Sheikh Abdullah ?

Did he have some understanding with Sheikh Abdullah to silence Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee?

After independence, Congress was the only significant political party. Bhartiya Jan Sangh backed by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) was posing a challenge to Congress.

Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay

Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay was a member of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

In 1967 he was elected as the President of Bhartiya Jan Sangh.

Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay also died under mysterious circumstances.

On 11 February 1968, he was found dead near railway track in Mughalsarai city (Uttar Pradesh).

The Congress Govt set up a one-man inquiry commission to investigate. Justice Y V Chandrachud was appointed to probe the reason of his death. He concluded that someone had pushed Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay out of a moving train which resulted in his death.

Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee and Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay were mass leaders of Bhartiya Jan Sangh....... How come both died such mysterious deaths !!

My Dear Yong Indians,

In today's times of social media, everyone has a view on everything. But views based on knowledge of the past are always heard and respected.

Jai Hind !
