Border Security Force (BSF)

Dear Indians,

Today is the ‘Raising Day’ of Border Security Force .

After the India- Pakistan war in 1965, a need was felt to have a dedicated force to guard our borders.

BSF was raised on 1 December 1965.

BSF is known as “India’s first line of defense.”

BSF is the world’s largest border guarding force.

BSF is one of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) of India

BSF is an only Paramilitary Force in the world which has its field unis, air wing, water wing, camel wing, national training centre for dogs, Communication & IT wing and own satellite network.

Army, Air-Force and Navy are responsible for countering external aggression--a war. These forces are under Ministry of  Defense.

For maintaining internal security and vigilance, different forces have been set up for different purposes-- BSF, CRPF, CISF, SSB, ITBP etc.

These are together called Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF)

Internal security is the responsibility of Ministry of Home. CAPFs are under the Home Ministry.

Central Armed Police Forces are referred to as 'Paramilitary  Forces' in spoken language.

BSF will guard the borders during peace time. But when a full-fledged war breaks out, they hand over the border to the army.

The way….

Indian Army has a training academy in Dehradun,

Indian Air Forces has its academy in Hyderabad and

Indian Navy has its academy in Kochi,

The BSF has its training academy in "Tekanpur" (Gwalior) in Madhya Pradesh.

BSF is ‘India’s First Line of Defense”. Somewhere I had read…..

हम भारत की सीमाओं के प्रहरी हैं

भारत के लिए प्राण देने का पहला अधिकार, हमारा है

We guard India’s borders.

It is our right & privilege to die for India, first.

In a world where everyone is demanding "Rights” and seeking "privileges" .. …. It can only be a soldier who would ask for the Right to die for India

Jai Hind !
