Bipin Chandra Pal

7 November

My Dear Indians,

Today is the birthday of Bipin Chandra Pal

He was born on 7 Nov 1858.
He passed away on 20 May 1932.

He was born in a place called Sylhet in Bengal which is now a part of Bangladesh.

Bal, Lal and Pal were revolutionaries and freedom fighters but their thoughts were completely different from that of Mahatma Gandhi and Congress party.

Sri Aurbindno and Bipin Chandra Pal were the creators of “Purna Swaraj” and “Swadeshi” movement.

Bipin Chandra Pal was against caste system and was in favour of widow re-marriage. And he practiced what he preached….when his wife passed away he married a widow and joined ‘Brahmo Samaj’.

Who were Bal, Lal and Pal ?

They were Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Lala Lajpat Rai and Bipin Chandra Pal

One of you asked me, What does it mean - 'there thoughts were different from that of Mahatma Gandhi?'

If I can use the word 'extreme' .... then Gandhi ji was an extreme follower of non-violence. An example is the way he acted after the Chauri Chaura incident.

There were people within Congress party who did not like to follow non violence to this extent. Bal, Lal, Pal, Gopal Krishan Gokhle were some of them.

Mahatma Gandhi and Congress Party were asking the British for Swaraj or Home rule. Home rule meant that Indians will run the day-to-day affairs of country but the British would continue to be the Head of State. This was also referred to as the 'dominion' status. This was not true freedom.

In contrast Bal, Laj, Pal and others like Bhagat Singh wanted 'Purna Swaraj' meaning complete independence. The British should just leave India and go.

Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Chandra Shekhar Azad killed a British Police Officer in 1928 to avenge the death of Lal (Lala Lajpat Rai). Bhagat Singh was arrested.

When they were in jail and were being tried in a British court, Bhagat Singh and his companions became popular across the country. Their views on "Total Independence" became so popular that Mahatma Gandhi and Congress Party HAD to give up the objective of "Swaraj" and HAD to adopt "PURNA SWARAJ" as their objective.

It was only in 1930 on 26 January that the Congress party asked the British for Purna Swaraj.

This was the time when Bhagat Singh was in jail and had become popular among the masses more than Gandhi Ji and Congress.

Bhagat Singh was martyred in 1931

Jai Hind !
Gaurav Negi
